we both had our cameras that day
i know it for a fact because
for some reason
you took some amazing photos of me
which is rare for someone with my looks
but we didn't care much because both of us loved it
the sun was shining in that awkward cloudy blue
that doesn't overwhelm us
but doesn't inhibit us either

we walked to the park and sat by the creek
the water lapping at our feet
i took a picture of you in the grass
you looked like you were sleeping
beautiful more than you could imagine
and then we saw them
momentarily only
as they came upon the water
their eyes black as pitch focused on nothing
but their path

heads of shimmering metalic green they stayed together
like a mating pair
and yet...
//its a gay duck couple// you said with a smile
how ironic, i thought to myself as i watched them glide

perhaps they were
i cannot say
but i know that my camera recorded the pair for all time
the pair of gay ducks
along with your face in the grass
and an abandoned playground on jefferson street
